EDUCATION IS A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN SCHOOL AND HOME

The Creative Curriculum

The Creative Curriculum

At Western Springs we believe that children should be inspired by their learning therefore we deliver a creative approach to learning.

Why?

  • Enhances children's learning
  • Creative teaching and learning is more stimulating
  • Children are more engaged and motivated with their learning
  • Builds lifelong skills
  • Team work
  • Purpose for learning

How?

  • To ensure all subject areas are given coverage that children gain skills and knowledge in their learning we have introduced the Prospectus Curriculum
  • With opportunities for learning to be both creative and thematic
  • It is developed around the statutory requirements of the New National Curriculum
  • Through a creative curriculum all subject areas are covered but essentially history/geography and citizenship/art/design and technology with links English/mathematics/science/ computing /PHSE
  • Topics are either termly or half-termly and are linked to world events whenever possible to increase children's awareness of the wider world and Global issues
  • It is considered essentially that children are given hands on opportunities through learning outside the classroom so within our creative curriculum children take their learning out of the classroom whether it is exploring the school ground or further a field. Educational visits are planned in each topic area
  • Children will be given Power Projects to work at home alongside their learning in school.
