EDUCATION IS A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN SCHOOL AND HOME

Sport Premium

What is it?

At Western Springs Community Primary School we aim to use the Sports Premium Funding in a number of ways. Below are some examples of how we intended to make a difference:-

  • Increase opportunities for competitive school sport for example taking children to cluster matches and festivals of sport, for example indoor athletics.
  • Providing places for pupils in after school sport clubs and increase opportunities for children to try new and a variety of different sports e.g. dance, fencing, handball, dodge ball.
  • Increased amount of intra and inter school competitions, for example in the Co-operative Trust Cluster tag rugby and netball tournament.
  • To support sport morning breakfast clubs to encourage a healthy lifestyle in addition to after school clubs.
  • Hiring specialist PE teachers to enhance physical education within the school and work alongside teacher to develop individual skill sets and confidence.
  • To enhance PE resources including a new Scheme of Work based on the new PE National Curriculum requirements.
  • Supporting lunchtime staff in encouraging children to part in an active lunchtime.
  • To support funding for the swimming timetable to meet the requirements of the new PE National Curriculum.

Measured Impact:

  • Increased participation in after school clubs. Children's involvement and increased learning are improving teamwork skills and fixture results.
  • Children developing their attitudes around sportsmanship and the core values of winning and losing.
  • Having access to sport and culture days for example working with Grant Turner and taking part in World Cup festival day including Latin dance and futsal.
  • Overall physical skilfulness demonstrated both within curriculum time and out of hours to support the child's wellbeing at Western Springs Community Primary School.
